Intensive Certification Program &          SPX Certification Program

   
 

The STOTT PILATES® Intensive Program is designed for qualifying fitness and health professionals. Each course in the program has been carefully developed to prepare you to teach STOTT PILATES Matwork™ and equipment repertoire safely, effectively and with confidence.

General Course Objectives:

  • How to apply STOTT PILATES biomechanical principles of core stability, peripheral mobility, breathing and alignment to relevant exercises

  • Breakdown of essential and intermediate level exercises

  • Exercise essence, muscular initiation and movement sequencing

  • Variations to increase or decrease exercise intensity

  • Modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions

  • Effective communication, visual skills, verbal cuing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation


Intensive Mat-Plus™ Repertoire [IMP]

Provides you with the solid foundation and skills you need to develop effective and motivating group and personal training programs. At the end of the course, you are qualified to design and teach essential and intermediate level matwork classes, integrating small equipment to add variety and to meet the specific needs of your clients. In addition to the general course objectives, you learn:

  • Workout composition for personal and group training

  • Essential, intermediate and power workouts

  • Use of the Flex-Band®, Fitness Circle® and Arc Barrel to enhance, support and intensify strength and flexibility exercises

Pre-requisites: working knowledge of functional anatomy, Mat Pilates experience and three+ years teaching movement or fitness. If you do not meet these pre-requisites, we can advise you how to achieve your goals.

Course Duration: 40 hours instruction and supervised teaching, plus minimum 10 hours observation, 30 hours physical review, and 15 hours practice teaching
(Conducted over four weekends or two-weeks - weekday format).

Intensive Reformer Repertoire [IR]

Prepares you to teach a broad range of exercises, variations and modifications performed on the Reformer - the key piece of resistance equipment used in Pilates exercise. This course teaches you how to combine Mat and Reformer-based workouts for increased variety and intensity. Upon completion of this course, you are able to further motivate group classes and customize personal training sessions for a range of clients. In addition to the general course objectives, you learn:

  • Effective use of resistance to enhance torso stability and peripheral extremity conditioning

  • How to develop effective Reformer and combined Mat and Reformer programs for personal and group classes

  • Essential, intermediate and power workouts

  • Effective communication, visual skills verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation

Pre-requisites: formal anatomy training, Reformer experience and 3+ years teaching movement or fitness.  IMP preferred as mat is the foundation of Pilates.

Course Duration: 50 hours instruction and supervised teaching, plus minimum 10 hours observation, 40 hours physical review, and 25 hours practice teaching (Conducted over five weekends or two-weeks - weekday format).

Intensive Cadillac, Chair & Barrels Repertoire [ICCB]

Prepares you to teach essential and intermediate level stretch and strength exercises on equipment designed to complement and complete STOTT PILATES training: Cadillac/Trapeze Table, Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector and Arc Barrel.

By the end of this course you are able to fine tune both personal and circuit training programs to meet a variety of your clients' conditioning goals - from post-rehabilitation to athletic performance enhancement. In addition to the general course objectives, you learn:

  • How to apply STOTT PILATES biomechanical principles for precision training

  • Use of resistance to enhance torso stability and peripheral extremity training

  • How to develop dynamic programs for one-on-one and circuit training

Pre-requisites: IMP + IR or CMR

Course Duration: 50 hours instruction and supervised teaching, plus minimum 10 hours observation, 40 hours physical review, and 25 hours practice teaching (Conducted over five weekends or two-weeks - weekday format).
