Anatomy Basics - 12 Hours

The STOTT PILATES® Method has a very strong emphasis on anatomy knowledge; all students are required to know and understand the insertions, origins and functions of the muscles.

Many students have realized that the Anatomy Basics Workshop solidified their foundation in being able to understand and teach the material with confidence which also aided in their preparation for the Certification Exam.

When taking the Anatomy Basics Workshop in preparation for the exam process, students are encouraged to write their questions down and discuss with an IT at a later time so as not to hinder those going through the workshop to prepare themselves for the entry level of their certification course.

STOTT PILATES® Matwork for Breast Cancer Rehab NEW 

Many more women will survive breast cancer today than ever before. These women will be encouraged to seek out fitness programs to assist in their recovery and give them the strength and endurance they will need to resume an active lifestyle.

This workshop will discuss various types of treatments including surgeries and reconstruction and the exercise requirements for each.

Programs will include Matwork based exercises focusing on ROM for the entire shoulder girdle, establishing mobility, restoring posture, ensuring proper biomechanics and developing core and peripheral strength to address muscular imbalances created from the surgeries.

Exercises will incorporate hand-held toning balls and a towel or small foam cushion to work on low load strength and endurance.

This interactive workshop will introduce participants to a variety of exercises on the STOTT PILATES Cadillac Trapeze Table.

The presenter will explain and demonstrate a selection of exercises that highlight the Cadillac’s capabilities, and utilizes all its features (roll-down bar, push-thru bar, trapeze, leg and arm springs).

STOTT PILATES® The Shoulder Girdle: Stability & Function

This lecture will explore the anatomy and biomechanics involved in the normal healthy functioning of the shoulder girdle, some of the interruptions that can occur to the ideal functioning of this area and exercise progressions to restore function, prepare for specific activities and enhance performance.

The available movements and typical movement patterns of the shoulder girdle will be broken down analyzing scapular movement, humeral movement and relevant muscular action.

Common abnormal or dysfunctional movement patterns will be addressed, exercise progressions that can be used to rebuild normal muscle action and movement patterning will be outlined, as well as shoulder girdle exercises that can challenge and promote optimal performance.

Cueing is crucial to the work of mind-body instructors. The exercise we teach requires the whole body to work as a unit.

Our focus is on movement patterns as opposed to isolating individual muscles, and our aim is to achieve stability with mobility and control.

This workshop will give us some background into learning styles and compare group exercise to private training to find the best cuing methods possible. Learning objectives:
